KDSP’s primary mission is to raise awareness about Down syndrome amongst the masses to transform their mindsets. The aim is to create an inclusive society where people with Down syndrome are welcomed, recognized for their abilities and provided access to equal opportunities.

KDSP Carnival

Each year KDSP organizes an inclusive carnival for individuals with Down syndrome and their families, in celebration of World Down Syndrome Day. The Carnival features exciting games and activities for all children including puppet shows, dance competitions, magic shows and a variety of food and craft stalls, which allows for adults and children alike to indulge.

Awareness Sessions

KDSP regularly conducts awareness sessions at and with schools and organizations, such as; Beaconhouse, Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Procter & Gamble (P&G), Ismail Industries (Candyland), Crescent Steels and Sehat Kahani to name a few. The session sensitizes the students and employees on what Down syndrome is, the preferred language guide, the value of treating them with kindness and respect and the importance of including them as part of our society.

Guided Tours

KDSP opened its doors to the public in an effort to educate people regarding Down syndrome and to clarify the myths associated with the genetic condition. Participants who were part of the tour also get a chance to tour the facility, learn about the services offered by KDSP and how they can make a difference in the lives of individuals with Down syndrome and their families. KDSP has recently introduced employee engagement as part of its guided tour, whereby companies can choose to visit KDSP to conduct workshops or activities with individuals with Down syndrome and their families.

Down Syndrome Awareness Month

October is recognized as the Down Syndrome Awareness Month, the aim of which is to promote inclusion by virtue of raising awareness about Down syndrome. In its efforts to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month, KDSP organizes an annual campaign that highlights certain stories and recognizes individuals with Down syndrome as equal and participating members of society. The KDSP Family Network along with members of the team, make several appearances on Pakistani television and radio, such as Bakhaber Savera, AAJ Pakistan, Naya Din and SAMAA FM.

The 2022 Down Syndrome Awareness Month campaign was titled Pyaar Baanto, inspired by the new KDSP anthem that was released. The song “Pyaar Baanto” aimed to spread the message of love and inclusion and was produced by Ali Hamza Production House, directed by Zeeshan Parvez and sung by acclaimed singers: Ali Hamza, Haroon Shahid, Natasha Noorani, Nafisa Khalid, and Bilal Ali. The anthem was released on several streaming platforms and had 280k + views on YouTube and 375+ views on Instagram. KDSP and its new anthem got media coverage through different digital and print media platforms as well. These include Jang Magazine and Dawn Images. Multiple television and radio show appearances on platforms such as FM 91, Bol TV, Hum News, Geo TV, Aaj News were also made by the KDSP and song team. Furthermore, KDSP conducted awareness sessions and fundraising drives in schools all over Karachi, including a special screening at The Ivy school.
